PHILOSOPHY

RED APPLE DAYCARE is committed to the provision of high quality affordable childcare for the children of students and staff of the Toronto District School Board and the surrounding community.

The philosophy of the programs is one which believes in the potential of all children. Each room develops an individual program for each child which is then incorporated into group goals. The staff observe the developmental level of the children and then plan a program that is fun and developmentally appropriate.

The program is flexible and allows the opportunities for children to follow their own interests and join in when they want to. There is a balance of quiet and busy activities, indoor and outdoor play and individual and group needs.

It is important to recognize the specific goals for each age group and understand the developmental need of each age group. We encourage independence and opportunities for the child to achieve numerous skills.

The recognition of emotional support and nurturing is a strong component of our belief system. Each teacher works with the child and family to create good communication and support for the child leaving their parents. It is important for the parent to feel happy in their choice of childcare and secure that their child is in a safe and nurturing environment.

Parents will learn about the program from the posted program charts and in addition daily communication charts. The parents are invited to parent interviews in each room as well as parent open houses and finally when your child leaves the centre, a written letter outlining the child's progress.

Priority is given to TDSB and TCDSB students and staff and the surrounding community.

We welcome feedback and input on the program, in particular in the area of different cultures.
